Drowning At Monmouth Beach Sees Man Lost In Whirlpool
Thomas C Bunclark twenty three of New York drowned yesterday afternoon at Monmouth Beach while bathing. He was caught in a whirlpool between the jetties as waves rose high and carried him out to sea. Bunclark worked as a chauffeur for George J Jackson of Monmouth Beach. His fiancé was notified and the body was found today near Low Moor after a long search. A large crowd watched as rescuers struggled and Bunclark was identified by the morgue attendant.

A string of weekend traffic incidents left multiple people injured near Freehold. Police reported several crashes, with injuries ranging from minor to serious as responders attended multiple collision scenes along local roadways.
Cliffwood Man Killed by Train
Charles Schmattenberg, 67, timekeeper at Craig's brick yards in Cliffwood north of Matawan, was killed Saturday night when struck by a Pennsylvania train on the trestle near Matawan station. He died instantly from a fractured skull and injuries to a hand. Coroner Harry C. Fay ruled the death accidental, noting the man had no right on the trestle. Remains were taken to Matawan station. burial arrangements in Keyport. Schmattenberg, educated in seven languages, had lived alone in Cliffwood for six to seven years and was popular among workers. A four o'clock yesterday accident on Rumson Road near Uzal H. McCarter’s residence involved George W. Sutton and Louis J. Boury, with Sutton’s daughter and sister injured.
