Red Bank Health Board Hears Plumber License Fee Proposal

A Red Bank Board of Health meeting discussed a proposed registration license fee for plumbers between 60 and 70 dollars. The board will consider the measure after plumbers from the Master Plumbers Association urged favorable action. Other items included sewer connection issues on Marion Street and complaints about soft coal smoke from local businesses. The Board of Education was asked to stop using Liberty Hose property in White Street as a dumping ground. Remarkable 94 Year Old Counts Autos From Red Bank Door

Ninety four year old Amelia Sickles counts automobiles passing the Monmouth road doorstep, chalks marks, and tallies daily. Yesterday she logged 214 autos in a short time. She is praised as a preserved elder, sister of Catherine Sickles, and visited by brother in law Henry Sickles. Train plunges into ravine near Boston injuring many

A Cohasset to Boston local on the New York New Haven and Hartford line derailed on a sharp curve near Dorchester and South Boston. The engine and fireman were killed and sixty to eighty passengers seriously injured as the baggage car and two day coaches tumbled into a small ravine at the track edge three miles from South Station. In Washington a separate wreck on the Baltimore and Ohio line caused serious injuries to three railway workers and destruction of freight depot contents after a runaway thirty car freight train smashed into buildings and other cars.

Red Bank Church Fair Planned Along Monmouth Street

St James R C Church Red Bank will host a week long fair at the club grounds corner Monmouth and West streets with lanterns and lights. Three booths run by Red Bank Fair Haven and Shrewsbury communities. An entertainment nightly and a harvest home on the final evening. Committee of seventy five under Rev Father Reynolds directs. Immigration officials keep plans secret on alleged Allen Contract Law violations

Henry C Walker Dies in Chicago Times of Long Branch ties

Henry C Walker of Chicago was found dead at his home last Saturday aged about 75. He had long ties to Long Branch and Oakhurst with his wife, later married Irene Cook, and left a son Clarence. He ran stables in Chicago, owned horses, and spent years visiting Oakhurst. New School House Planned for Tinton Falls

The Shrewsbury Township Board of Education accepted J. N. Pearson & Son’s bid for a new school site at Tinton Falls to replace the building destroyed by fire. Plans call for a one story one room school with capacity for 45 to 50 pupils, to be ready by September. Desks costing 3.60 to 3.70 each will be purchased, and about 100 tons of coal bid by Joseph N. Hance at 4.40 for pea coal and 5.90 for stove coal. A heating representative from Waterbury Heating Co attended. no action taken. Resignation of Miss Sarah A. Nivison noted. successor to be the Fair Haven Borough Board of Education.

Mystery Girl Identified as Elizabeth Moore in New York Case

A twelve year old girl picked up by Patrolman Vetter July 8 near midnight was found to be Elizabeth Moore of New York, not Jennie Peckton. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Harry J Moore, contractor from New York, arrived in town and took custody after detectives traced the girl through newspapers. The child had claimed ages 9 or 12 and various origins, including Asbury Park, but no facts could be verified. The case, initiated by Overseer RK Horace Curtin and Mrs Leon Cubberlex, involved photos and appeals across cities. Mrs Moore described two prior absences from home.

Allgor Case Heard at Sea Bright

A hearing on the Algor matter was held at Sea Bright before Vice Chancellor L M Garrison. Detention of James M Aliger in the State Hospital for the Insane at Trenton until August 13 was ordered by Justice Voorhed. Counsel for Aliger sought immediate release, but the Vice Chancellor ruled that the Supreme Court order overrode and the matter would be extended for a week to prepare further.
