O'Brien Bicycle Stolen From East Long Branch Depot

William J. O'Brien an insurance broker had left his Columbia bicycle at the Southern depot East Long Branch while he conducted business. On return the wheel was missing with no clues found. He offered to pay forty to sixty dollars for the thief's apprehension.

Spring Lake horse show winners named and ribbons awarded

At Spring Lake horse show Friday Emil Seelig of Second avenue this city won two blues and Myron H. Oppenheim of Park avenue won one. M. L. Schiff of Sea Bright won a red ribbon with King of the West.

Long Branch Horses Win at Spring Lake Horse Show

At the closing exhibition of the Spring Lake Horse Show at the County Club grounds on Saturday several Long Branch exhibitors captured prizes. Morton L. Schwartz's chestnut gelding Durham won the saddle horse championship, besting Fairy Queen of Myron H. Oppenheim. Durham has won seventy-eight ribbons. Emil Selig won the ladies single harness class with Royal Victoria, while Pandora Queen took red in the harness championship. Also noted are Masquerade and Carnival Suits marketing by Sexton Bros undertakers at 616 Broadway with advertising copy in the Daily Record.

Narrow Escapes In Half Dozen Traffic Accidents Nearby

Several near misses and minor crashes occurred Saturday afternoon in Branchport and Red Bank. In Branchport two cars collided at the four corners near Ferdinand Vreeland’s home. drivers claimed right of way and left without reporting to police. In Red Bank on Monmouth Street a vehicle crossing trolley tracks swerved, colliding with another car. a passenger woman narrowly escaped serious injury as one machine’s left hind wheel and mud guards were damaged. A Mercedes owned by Cottager Einberg burned nearly to the ground on Lincoln and Elberon avenues. extinguisher units saved it. General director Harry C. Fay of Red Bank had a wagon overturn while delivering chairs for a ball game after trains delayed crossings. bystanders aided him and the horse.

Fire companies booked for parade promised big turnout

A Newark Call report says at least thirty fire companies, including out-of-town units, will participate in the carnival parade next Thursday. Ocean Park amusements face license dispute and deaths at sea

Sub lessees at Ocean Park appeared before Recorder Arrow smith at City Hall for operating amusements without licenses. The Levine case was dismissed. others held for briefs. Nearby, Red Bank and Spring Lake residents faced injuries and near drownings as currents swept bathers, with several men aiding in rescues. A fatality and multiple rescues linked to treacherous sea conditions near Casino and Atlantic Highlands, prompting continued patrols and coroner involvement.

Died From Fractured Skull In Newark Motorcycle Crash

Toulsa Schull of Newark died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital Friday night from a fractured skull after a fall from a motorcycle. Funeral director J. T. Locals halt Detroit four innings in five run loss

About three thousand spectators watched Ty Cobb s All Leaguers defeat Long Branch 7 to 2 at the Hollywood Horse Show grounds. The locals misplayed in the field and mustered only six safeties off Andy Coakley while Hope was hit hard but received little support. Cobb opened with a triple and scored on a relay, but was cut down at the plate attempting a homer. The locals scored in the second and fourth, with Levy Daly Wood and Lee contributing, while Long Branch answered in the third and fourth, aided by defensive miscues and a wild throw.
