Keyport Carnival A Success Beyond Wildest Dreams

Keyport celebrated a grand carnival and baby parade despite rain delays. Gov. Fort and aides attended, praising roads and education, while the parade featured judges, floats, and a popular baby procession. The queen rode on a Ship of State float as the Mardi Gras evening concluded the record-setting 1910 event.

Yearly town prize parade crowns many winners in state event

The town held a large prize parade with diverse awards. Fire companies won for turnout and decoration, and General Floats honors went to Conklin and The Social Nine. Baby parade prizes honored families like Bedle and Walling with varied categories. The event, praised as the greatest ever, featured a long list of individuals and groups recognized for floats, carriages, automobiles, and more.

Athletic carnival entries require registration cards

Chairman G M L Sachs leads next weeks carnival athletic contests in Monmouth county. Entries must include registration cards obtainable for 25 cents from Oscar A. Morgan at 51 Abbott Avenue Ocean Grove before acceptance, as last year New York entrants dominated and spectators were few.

Society wedding at Little Silver in refined ceremony

Miss Hetty A. Dean and Ferren Blaisdell wed at 2 30 p m beneath a canopy of roses. Four ushers attended, guests viewed gifts of silverware china and linen, then a lawn reception before a honeymoon tour to Eaglemere and Knoxville.

Trolley to Perth Amboy Opens From Keyport

Trolley cars began running Wednesday from Keyport across the Raritan river bridge to Perth Amboy. The service links Keyport with Red Bank Highlands and Matawan and continues hourly to Perth Amboy with connections to North Jersey. Middlesex officials attended a dinner at Highland Beach with trolley executives.

Fire destroys Mrs Hines home in Tabor Street

Fire yesterday morning partly destroyed the home of Mrs. Samuel Hines on Tabor street after kerosene lamps and oil nearby ignited when clothes dampened by ironing caught fire while she visited a neighbor. Alarm from box 21 Bath avenue. Front section survived, rear burned, loss estimated around 1600 dollars. Firefighters delayed returning to headquarters due to road work.

Monmouth Ball Players Make Good

Bay shore players from Monmouth area have advanced to major and minor leagues. Notables include the Zimmermans from Atlantic Highlands, Heiner at Cubs utility infield, Young Zim as third baseman for the Newark Indians and leadoff hitter. Harbusch of Allentown Penn State League, Barberick and Mieure in state and Eastern leagues, Litue twirling for Murray in Utah, Flick Luyster leading Eastern Carolina League, McCormick who trained at Keyport, and George Stallings of Matawan now managing the New York Highlanders.

Fishing Industry at Belford Prospering

Belford fishermen report higher catches this year led by menhaden daily processed for Port Monmouth factories. Blues and other edible fish are iced and shipped to New York commission houses. Leading captains include George C. Henry, J Edward Johnson, Jacob Schnoor, William Roop, B wart Havens, John Osborn and Albert Runyon. Investments in boats nets and tackle exceed $100 000.

Cottager Lazar Shulman Dies at Chelsea Home

Lazar Shulman a retired clothier aged seventy died Sunday at his Chelsea avenue summer home after sudden illness. Coroner John W. Fleck issued the burial permit. Survived by seven children, the body was moved to New York for funeral services at Shaavl Zedik Temple conducted after a half past ten.

Infant Peter Lang Died in Oceanic at One Year

Infant Peter Lang son of George and Margaret Lang of Oceanic died Saturday from infantile complaint aged one year two months. Funeral held Monday with interment at Mount Olivet cemetery near Red Bank. Harry C. Fay supervised funeral arrangements.

Will Use Plant Here to Meet Big Contracts

Work on temporary sheds began behind the burned Bu chanan and Smock Lumber Co. mill. Harry W. Smock, supervisor, expects mill hands to work on material for several large contracts. The firm will temporarily take over Edwards Coal and Lumber Co. mill in Broadway Long Branch and operate a near-same sized plant to avoid delays. The Edwards plant, recently placed in receivership, is in good repair and awaits power to run machinery. This plan aims to employ all Buchanan and Smock workers with the shed setup.

Wrangle Over Sale of Property in Keansburg

The late Beeley Compton left all his property to wife Emeline for life or death, then to three daughters Mrs. Willett of Newburn, Mrs. Thorne and Mrs. Aberin of Keansburg. Mrs. Compton died a year ago, Thorne as administrator settled estate except homestead, disputed by Aberin who removed furnishings. Aberin charged with felonious assault. Walling of Keyport held him on $500 bail to await grand jury.
