Carnival of Keansburg Plans Big Second Year

Keansburg Association readies an eight day Carnival from August 7 to 24 with an executive committee of one hundred and a King and Queen contest for locals aged 18 to 85. Events include coronation at New Point Comfort, athletic races, band concerts, motor and water sports, children’s contests, floral parades, and a Mardi Gras parade ending with a grand ball.

Senators Headed Out For August Outing

Senator John W. Slocum and former State Senator Henry Terhune depart for a ten day trip starting tomorrow visiting Buffalo Niagara Falls Toronto Montreal and White Mountains. Mrs. Helen G. Conover of Red Bank granted a divorce from Henry A. Conover of Lincroft, a traveling salesman with many ties to the area. The couple has two grown sons.

New Deal Borough sees new fire company take over

Deal Fire Company No. 8 replaces old unit after council meeting. Mayor Levy and four councilmen backed the transfer while the No. 1 company was ordered to vacate the firehouse. The newly formed No. 2 company reports 44 active members, with 13 former No. 1 members. Contributions from local officials support start up costs and equipment.

University Club Dance Draws a Large Hollywood Audience

The University Club at the Hollywood Hotel hosted a well attended debut attracting many local social figures including Miss Sadie Galraith Miss Hazel Huntaberry and Dr. J Robertson among others. Death of Smith in New York State Linked to Rosaline Laundry Prep

Word from Lincroft reports the death of a former resident, Smith, in New York State. He previously marketed a laundry preparation named Rosaline after his wife Rose. Smith and his wife separated years ago. Dr. Joseph B. Hingeley preached at North Long Branch Church. Mrs. James L. Muirhead and her sister performed a contralto solo. Local horses win at Spring Lake show

The Sea Girl and Spring Lake Horse Show Association held its annual exhibition at the country club. Mrs. C. Cecil Fitler of Riverton won two championships, Myron H. Oppenheim of Long Branch led with Fairy Queen in three ribbons, and Rock Abby from Blenheim Farms Baltimore won best hunter or jumper. Ethel Knowles drove Mrs. Fitler’s Pandyra Queen to win over Mrs. Seelig’s Royal Victoria in the ladies class.

Monmouth Social Club Outing Enjoyed by Members Friends

Over forty members and friends of the Monmouth Club enjoyed its annual outing aboard Captain Andrew White's Olivia B. of Red Bank. They departed at 10:30 AM for a river trip to South Shrewsbury, Ben Bright, and Al Smith's at Oceanport where a shore dinner pleased all, followed by baseball practice, a parade, music, and a humorous field scene with cows and a curious horse. The party returned to Red Bank by 7:30 PM.

Horse Killed After Auto Accident Near Long Branch

Ruliff Green, farmer near West Long Branch, is knocked from his runabout when a Whitfield car with three occupants fails to see him. Green’s horse, valued at 250 dollars, is injured fatally and must be killed. The crash occurs in front of the Stillwagon home. witnesses include Charles Stillwagon and Howard Brand. Green suffers shock but survives. no lights on his vehicle. The Whitfield auto’s occupants are two women and a driver. Green’s loss is compensated by Mr. Whitfield. A separate note promotes the Broadway Theatre’s farce Stop Thief tonight and coming shows.

Four Generations Celebrate Whitmore Birthday in Red Bank

Joseph S. Whitmore, 92, of Red Bank, was feted Saturday with an informal reception attended by four generations of his family. Noted as active for his age, he previously served as a judge in New York and a prominent attorney, with a long association to Oceanic and Red Bank. He remains a well known local figure despite vertigo episodes.

Church Officials Burn S178 Note at Simpson Memorial
