Solemn Services for Senator Murphy
Solemn religious services marked the funeral of Senator Ed ward Murphy Jr of Trop New York at St Michael's Church Takanassee Lake at eight thirty this morning. The church was filled with relatives and friends as Rev Richard A Crean celebrant spoke of the deceased civic leader. The honorary pallbearers included Governor John A Dix Judge Alton B Parker ex United States Senator James Smith Jr Anthony N Brady Dr John B Crosby Judge Morgan J O'Brien Congressman William Sulzer Edward Riggs and others. The body was taken to Troy for a second service at his birth home. The funeral party left West End station at 9 20 in a Pullman special and dining car the trip continuing to Jersey City then West Shore road. Funeral Director John W Fleck accompanied the party. Reopened Red Bank theatre wowed by Spring Maid's debut
The Lyceum Red Bank hosted a sold out crowd for The Spring Maid last night. Miss Mizzi Hajos debuted as Princess Bozena and won acclaim for her singing and dancing. George Leon Moore played Prince Jadar with flair while Leo Stark portrayed Roland the English tragedian. The performance drew about 1500 patrons and will travel to the West End Casino again tonight.

Mattress theft case shocks Long Branch room mate
Frank Adeney and Chicago visitor Lester Schroeder, 18, rented a room in the McCarthy building Long Branch. Adeney found $190 hidden under a mattress after Schroeder vanished, police sought the suspect. Carrie Foster, the so called cigarette girl, was jailed for attempted theft from Benjamin Lane who later identified her. she faced $1 bail and grand jury action. Jacob Rosenberg operated a wallpaper store on Norwood avenue and stored stolen goods in a fence. He began a nine year term in Trenton state prison for horse theft linked to a year of thefts in Monmouth county. About a hundred horses were stolen and dyed to conceal identification before being sold. James Gilbert and James Brown were among new arrivals serving time.
