Long Branch Board of Trade advances the fourth annual carnival with Queen Elizabeth TV and Miss Mercedes Crum leading a court in white satin robes. The queen's costume is ordered, featuring white satin with old lace, a jeweled ruby crown, and gold-embellished coat. Pages wear Louis XIV blue and gold trimmed outfits. Horse Show Victim O'Sullivan Dies At Hospital

Eatontown horseman Michael O'Sullivan died from injuries suffered at the Spring Lake Horse Show on Thursday. He rode horse Puck for Peter Hauck Jr of Newark and was thrown during a hurdle, sustaining skull fractures. O'Sullivan was buried from the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea after passing away at Ann May Hospital.

Mystery of Jennie Peckton Nine Year Old Near Four Weeks

A nine year old girl named Jennie Peckton, picked up by police at midnight July 8, remains a mystery in Long Branch. She has given conflicting stories, claimed Asbury Park ties, and said her parents died there. Police in multiple cities circulated photos, but no identification or location is known after nearly four weeks.

New Jersey Death Rate Declines in July Bulletin

New Jersey’s death rate continued to fall in the July bulletin from the Bureau of Vital Statistics. For the month ending July 10, total deaths were 2,795, 303 fewer than June and well below the 12 month average of 3,142. Leading causes included tuberculosis, cancer, nervous and circulatory diseases, pneumonia, and Bright’s disease. The report also covers food adulteration testing, prosecutions, inspections of dairies and ice cream plants, stream pollution, sewerage and water supply approvals, and enforcement efforts by state health authorities.

Birthday Surprise From Dunbar Sewing Circle

Mrs. L. Jaffer of Dunbar avenue welcomed a pleasant surprise from members of the sewing circle yesterday afternoon. The social gathering honored Mrs. Jaffer's birthday with a birthday luncheon and varied diversions. Attending were Mrs. Shapiro of Tarrytown Miss Nevins Miss Sheer Mrs. Witner of New York and Mrs. E. C. Schaffer of this city. Sea Bright Firemen's Ball drew good attendance and financial success with Wy maH's orchestra from Navesink providing music. Edward Slattery of Red Bank a Board of Health member was initiated into Samuel Sleeper Camp No. 16 of Sons of Veterans. Tonight a dance with Dennett's orchestra at the New Broadway Theatre is listed for Aug. 5.

Edwards 16 New Yacht Club Head

A South Shrewsbury Lee Yacht and Boat Club meeting accepted the resignation of commodore Benj P Morris and named Charles L Edwards to succeed him. Edwards, a twelve year club veteran, becomes Commodore as the club pursues renewed river craft activity and plans a near complete new clubhouse. Prizes will be offered to encourage fourth class ice yachts and several new boats will be built for amateur sailors.

Arthur Byron III Undergoes Appendectomy

Actor Arthur Byron III underwent an appendectomy at Monmouth Memorial Hospital near noon today. Surgeon Dr. Edwin Field led the operation, reported very successful and Byron in good condition. He is expected to be out in two to three weeks and has a strong stage record including What Every Woman Knows with Maud Adams.

Conductor Saves Bag Worth 1600 On Long Branch Line

Paul J. Reber, a conductor on the Atlantic Coast Electric Railway Long Branch line, found a black leather bag aboard his car containing four diamond rings, two diamond and pearl neck ornaments, stick pins, and over 400 dollars. He recovered the bag after a passenger indicated it was missing. Mrs. Margaret McGloin of New York identified and reclaimed the contents at Allenhurst after police traced the car. The bag’s owner feared a loss of 1600 dollars, and Reber received only thanks for his honesty.

Governor Wilson to limit stump tour in Presidential bid

Supreme Court Denies Alimony in Hazard Divorce Case

Supreme Court Justice Russell Benedict in Brooklyn denied alimony and counsel fees to Mrs. Pearl W. Hazard in her suit for separation from Elmer C. Hazard, president of E. C. Hazard Manufacturing. The husband earns over 50,000 yearly. she sought 75 a week and 1,000 in fees. Benedict warned that marriage should hinge on obligation, not pleasure, and that alimony cannot fix marital failure.

Youthful 20-year-old fined for speeding near Red Bank

Syracuse youth Paddock, 20, formerly of Atlantic Highlands, was arrested at 11 30 am on Ram bow road for speeding at 50 mph. Judge Wise suspended his license for ten days after a guilty plea. He had been fined previously for reckless driving at Atlantic Highlands. His sister Marion accompanied him home in a National roadster.
