Horse Show Victim O'Sullivan Dies At Hospital
Eatontown horseman Michael O'Sullivan died from injuries suffered at the Spring Lake Horse Show on Thursday. He rode horse Puck for Peter Hauck Jr of Newark and was thrown during a hurdle, sustaining skull fractures. O'Sullivan was buried from the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea after passing away at Ann May Hospital.

New Jersey Death Rate Declines in July Bulletin
New Jersey’s death rate continued to fall in the July bulletin from the Bureau of Vital Statistics. For the month ending July 10, total deaths were 2,795, 303 fewer than June and well below the 12 month average of 3,142. Leading causes included tuberculosis, cancer, nervous and circulatory diseases, pneumonia, and Bright’s disease. The report also covers food adulteration testing, prosecutions, inspections of dairies and ice cream plants, stream pollution, sewerage and water supply approvals, and enforcement efforts by state health authorities.

Conductor Saves Bag Worth 1600 On Long Branch Line
Paul J. Reber, a conductor on the Atlantic Coast Electric Railway Long Branch line, found a black leather bag aboard his car containing four diamond rings, two diamond and pearl neck ornaments, stick pins, and over 400 dollars. He recovered the bag after a passenger indicated it was missing. Mrs. Margaret McGloin of New York identified and reclaimed the contents at Allenhurst after police traced the car. The bag’s owner feared a loss of 1600 dollars, and Reber received only thanks for his honesty.

Youthful 20-year-old fined for speeding near Red Bank
Syracuse youth Paddock, 20, formerly of Atlantic Highlands, was arrested at 11 30 am on Ram bow road for speeding at 50 mph. Judge Wise suspended his license for ten days after a guilty plea.
