Woman Arrested on Queer Charge in Asbury Park

Mrs Emma L Wakeley wife of Edward Wakeley connected with the Irving National Bank New York was arrested at her home 615 Bummesfield avenue Asbury Park by detectives who forced entry The warrant charges inciting crime and she was held for the grand jury in 600 bail Her daughter Miss Anna LaMar Wakeley acted as bondsman The detectives say they have records of long telephone conversations with George A Smock to support inviting him to her home The case was presented to Justice P F Dodd who ordered the bail and detainment Also reports on Oliver B Brault Mrs John T Britton and Miss Helen Dobbins with other local notices

Four Arrested in Raid on Cottage by Deal Lake

County Detective Elwood Minagh with Red Bank and Asbury Park officers raided the Apache Cottage on Ballard Drive in Iona Park near Deal Lake. Four men were arrested on gambling charges. two others freed after identity taken. Proprietor Frank Jones and assistants Harry Williams Frank McComb and William Doyle detained, bail set at 1000. Gambling gear valued about 600 seized for confiscation.

Accidents Link Nail Injury and Ice Pick Wound in City

Two local incidents reported in Monmouth County involve injuries at work and at home. Abe H. Zeroski of Steinbach store received a nail wound cauterized at Monmouth Memorial Hospital and remains in pain. Herman Schulz sustained a painful cut on his right hand from an ice pick a few days earlier. William G. Rutherford, a Red Bank contractor, touring from May’s Landing, oversees a twelve mile road project between Atlantic City and Camden and ordered a year’s subscription to the Daily Record for delivery to May’s Landing. A windmill framework is rising on Mrs. Charles Gremer’s Broadway property near Second Avenue, with pumping gear to be installed tomorrow.

Mrs Elizabeth Brand Dies Aged 93 At Riverdale Home

Elizabeth Brand widow of Tobias Brand died after two weeks illness at her daughter Matilda Layton’s Riverdale Avenue home. She was born in Belmar, mother of twelve, eight living, aged from fifty to seventy. Funeral at First Methodist Episcopal Church West Long Branch with service at Layton home. Monmouth Beach Hose Tested Under Pressure

A test of the Monmouth Beach fire hose was conducted using the Oliver Byron Engine. Four lengths burst under 260 pounds of water pressure. the hose, three years old, is guaranteed for 250 pounds. Mrs. Richard Griffin of Broadway has been ordered to leave the seashore for the mountains to recover from illness. "Sue" departed for the Catskills with Mrs. B A Gunn and Mrs. K Reynolds. Teen Kaas Struck by Car in Monmouth Beach Collision

William M Kaas Jr eighteen son of Mr and Mrs William M Kass of 254 Clinton avenue New ark was run down and seriously injured yesterday afternoon by a car owned by Mrs H B Wolf of Morris avenue. Kaas rode in a car with Max Hertz and tried to alight near the Bry cottage in Chile House Circle to save Hertz a ride home. He stepped from the running board as a car driven by Charles Thomas going nearly thirty miles an hour approached and was struck. He was carried about fifty feet and suffered a broken collar bone cuts to his face knees and a serious shock. The Wolf car was used to transport him to the Baths hospital where Dr J J Reed and Dr H S Houghton attended. Thomas was arrested and released on two hundred dollars bail with a hearing scheduled. The injured man’s father arrived at Monmouth Beach and visited the hospital with other relatives. The incident remains under ongoing coverage.
