Collision at Fifth Avenue and trolley crossing injures Garfield man
W H Piper of Garfield avenue narrowly escaped serious injury when his Mitchell touring car collided with a westbound trolley on the Long Branch Red Bank route at the Fifth Avenue crossing. The car was wrecked, Piper bruised with arm and side pains, yet walked home dazedly after the crash. The fender and a light were damaged on the trolley, and the incident prompted thoughts of amicable settlement. A separate Red Bank mishap at Broad Street Irving Place injured none seriously, involving Dr J E Sayre’s car and a horse.

Mrs Mary Olmstead Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs Mary Olmstead 72 wife of Andrew J Olmstead died yesterday morning at five at her South Street Eatontown home after a long illness. Survived by four children Mrs Charles A Valentine Oakhurst Mrs Darius Van Demark Eatontown Nelson S Olmstead Long Branch and William W Olmstead Brooklyn. Funeral Wednesday at 2 pm Second Adventist Church Eatontown with Elder L B Giles officiating. Interment West Long Branch. The couple wed in 1859 in Williamsburgh NY and celebrated their golden anniversary three years ago. They had lived in Eatontown 45 years and 41 years in the same house. The deceased was a frequent visitor and well known in the community.

Lawyer in Asbury Park Attempts suicide by shooting
In a despondent act Joseph S. Conover a 33 year old Asbury Park lawyer shot himself three times. One bullet hit the abdomen another the chest and the third penetrated the mouth. He was found unconscious in his room at 607 Second Avenue and removed to Monmouth Memorial Hospital where his condition was reported favorable and he was likely to recover. He lived with his mother and sister in law and had recently built a house at Asbury.

Hair Snatching Attacker Strikes North Long Branch Home
A seventeen year old girl, Ella Hennessey, was forcibly restrained and hair clippings taken by a masked man who entered through a side door of the West Street home. He bound her wrists, gagged her, and escaped via a back door, leaving the victim hurt and traumatized as her mother and sister returned. Police urged witnesses to come forward and search for a man seen nearby smoking a cigarette shortly before the assault.
