Red Bank Wife Beater Jailed After Disturbance

Michael Giannattasio a Red Bank restaurant operator was arrested Saturday night for beating his wife. He faced a Sunday hearing before Recorder James H. Sickles and was held on 500 bail for the grand jury, later taken to Freehold. An eyewitness heard cries, and another man intervened, prompting a quieting of the scene before neighbors gathered.

City Council adopts telephone ordinance amid clashes over fees

The city council approved a telephone ordinance imposing 1000 dollars yearly revenue plus free city telephones and shared fire alarm duct access. New York Telephone Company argued for 600 dollars citing its investment and benefits. A fire engine purchase of 4700 dollars was pushed, with 4000 previously appropriated and a 700 dollar La France engine added. A December transfer of 700 dollars from the contingent fund was approved over the mayoral veto.

Carnival Committee Organized For 1911 Carnival

City Hall last night organized the 1911 carnival with H C Rehm as chairman and a full slate of committee heads including Dr William K Campbell treasurer William R Warwick and Mayor Edwin W Packer as reception chair. Italian Fracas Ends With Shooting and Clubbing

Easter Sunday a party of Italians in Monmouth County engaged in a gunfire fight and club assault at Raffelo Percaro’s Morris avenue home. Pasquale DeWRis was shot in the head and cut with a razor while Gentie Martini and others were arrested. Martini and Percaro faced bail with Percaro held for concealed weapons and assault awaiting grand jury action.

New Jersey Governors Signs Over Twenty Bills

Governor Wilson signed more than twenty bills in Trenton on April 18. Measures banning common drinking cups in public places and protecting plumage birds were among the new laws. Long Branch Odd Fellows to Celebrate 92nd Anniversary

Long Branch Odd Fellows will mark the ninety second anniversary of American Odd Fellowship with a Sunday evening service at First Baptist Church Bath avenue and Pearl street on April 30. Rev A B Hughes will deliver the anniversary sermon. The event is organized by Arioch Lodge No 77 with invitations to Empire Lodge No 174 Sea View Lodge No 228 Long Branch Encampment No 49 Arioch Rebekah Degree Lodge No 21 and Beulah Rebekah Degree Lodge No 46. Dr Field Leads New Texas Manoeuvres Detail

The adjutant-general in Trenton reports a eight-man detail to join army manoeuvres on the Mexican border. Major William B. Martin of Elizabeth, Captain E. Gordon of Trenton, and Captain Edwin T. Field of Red Bank are the officers named. The unit departs April 22 and arrives at their commands April 25. Captain Field heads the Second Troop of Cavalry in Red Bank and serves on the Monmouth Memorial Hospital staff.

Easter Duet At First Presbyterian Church Red Bank

Elaborate Easter exercises were held at the First Presbyterian Church Red Bank on Sunday afternoon with a fine attendance. The program included a duet by Miss Sera Fay of Waverly Place and George W. Wilson of Asbury Park who rendered the piece effectively and impressed the audience. Mr Wilson is the Red Bank representative of the Asbury Park Journal and has shown interest in the church’s welfare.
