Leaders Plan Short Session of the Legislature

New Jersey lawmakers expect a brief May 6 extra session limited to jury reform constitutional convention and small boards of freeholders. Lower paving bids eyed as talks move to public forum

Bids for Third Street Stockwell and Second Avenue paving were deferred to next Wednesday. A Monday public meeting at City Hall, called by Mayor Newcomb, will discuss paying material after bids were tabulated. Bids from Morria C Burns Newark Paving and Standard Bitulithic ranged from 1.96 to 2.59 per square yard, with three bidders remaining.

Ocean Highway Washout at Galilee Threatens Bulkhead

The Galilee washout has grown into a serious coastal problem with 150 feet of new opening from Lockwood Fish Market toward Daly cottage. Ocean avenue ends are washed away, blocking traffic and exposing gas and water pipes to sea inroads as heavy seas continue. George Woolley, bulkhead builder, witnessed the scene and said orders to proceed were given.

Board sets aside funds for hospital repairs at April meeting

Monmouth Memorial Hospital board held an April session at the institution with President Thomas R. Woolley presiding. March admissions were 118 with 94 discharges and 11 deaths. A new policy sets aside 350 monthly for repairs. Reports noted plastering near completion and a new children's ward advancing. Funeral services were held for John H. Robinson at 215 Monmouth Avenue. Catherine Daly of Philadelphia visited as a real estate client and planned a summer at the seashore. A dance advertised at The Independent Engine House and shoe ads conclude the notices.

Eatontown Methodist Cornerstone to Be Relaid Sunday

The Eatontown Methodist church cornerstone will be relaid on Sunday afternoon April 20 supervised by Dr. James W. Marshall and Rev F Garrison. A copper box from Cook & Oakley will hold a paper copy of this item a list of contributors and church documents. The church moved to Broad Street last month across a field from the Jersey Central tracks and will receive further exterior and interior improvements. The history notes the 1848 arrival of Methodists in Eatontown with Rev Jos eph Chattle and Rev Samuel M. Hudson assisting in 1849.

Commerce Board Rally Tonight in Long Branch

Long Branch Chamber of Commerce hosts a public rally at City Hall with Arthur Metzgar of Trenton as principal speaker. Mayor Newcomb, Commissioner Fleck, City Solicitor Stevens, and several former officials join the program along with leaders from Asbury Park, Sea Bright and Atlantic Highlands chapters.

Prof Thomas Tallman and Christian L Berge tied for first with six wins and two losses, two draws. Berge won the playoff. William Curchin Jr placed third followed by Dr Walter L Mason and Charles L Cook. host finished last. Club plans weekly meetings at homes. next season date not set. Full Pardon for Former Banker Granted Today

Albert Twining, once an inmate of the New Jersey State Prison, was granted a full pardon by the Court of Pardons today. He had been convicted in connection with the failure of the First National Bank of Asbury Park and the Monmouth Trust Company and began a six year term after five years of legal battles.

Former Resident Dies in Keansburg Home

Mrs. Howard Coryell, formerly of this city, died at her Keansburg home last night at 8. Her remains were brought here this morning for funeral arrangements under Funeral Director William H.
