The Intermedial auditorium hosted a senior class production of Sweet Lavender a three act comedy by Arthur W Pinero. Leland Dudley as Dick Phenyl drew laughs with his drunken barrister persona while Clement Hale and Lavender Rolt figure in romance and intrigue.

Brother's body mangled on A A track

A grim accident on an athletic track left a brother dead with his body broken and strewn along the surface for a distance of at least fifty yards. The victim, a man whose identity is not yet disclosed, lay upon the track after being struck by a moving vehicle during an event. Police and officials began investigations as witnesses described a shocking scene.

Tragic Freight Trains Hits Man Near Wickatunk Station

Early freight arrival near Wickatunk station reports the death of James H. Caniff. His brother Thomas found the body along the line after the train halted. Coroner Harry Fay issued a burial permit. The incident suggests Caniff, intoxicated, lay down on the tracks and was struck by a passenger train. Also reported: George Lambertson’s fire loss at Holmdel, worsted by a blaze destroying farming implements and a horse. The barn and country place lie outside Holmdel. cause undetermined.

DIES OF LOCKSAW AT THE HOSPITAL

Miss Laura Richardson died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital at 46 from a nail injury and resulting blood poisoning after its extraction. She moved from a village on Long Branch avenue. rusted nail found in her left foot, extracted by Charles Jones. She had been ill nine days, admitted in a precarious state. Survived by four sisters Lulu Taylor Julia Truman Mary Cluff Maggie Shields. Funeral director Charles Breese. Funeral arrangements not completed.

Boat Drownings At Surf Attributed To Equipment Failure

Coroner and physician state two drownings were accidental and caused by a foul pull-off rope on a pound boat. Verdict says improper equipment and a fouled line contributed to the loss of Captain George A. Smith and Marino Mutaso during a surf incident on April 4. Witness James H. Hennessey recalled the boat’s stern tethered by the pull-off rope as it filled and sank.

Arbor Day Observed at Primary School

Arbor Day activities at Primary School included songs recitations and readings across grades. Serious injury in peculiar accident at Abbottford area

Red Bank Recorder Hands 90 Day Jail Term In Borough Case

Recorder Harry C Badeau sentences a man to ninety days in County jail at Borough Hall hearings. A Shrewsbury youth is held for Grand Jury action while a warrant for grand larceny is issued. Peter Hill of Ke yport, a local offender, disappears after drunk and disorderly arrest. he is later jailed. Joseph Pierce, twenty, of Shrewsbury, arrested on a warrant for petty offenses.
