Trolley Promoters Elect Officers at Holm del Meeting

Improvement Association of Central Monmouth County elected officers last night at Holm del meeting. Lewis S. Thompson was elected vice president. The new organization will consider erection of trolley roads and take up lighting highways.

The Improvement Association of Central Monmouth County formed at Holmdel Baptist Church to promote trolley traffic between Red Bank Freehold Keyport and Lakewood. Rev W P Chase was elected president with W C Ely and Lewis Thompson as vice presidents, a 15 member board named, and by laws to be drafted.

Two colored youths plead guilty to robberies at Asbury Park

Henry Burney and Harvey Gross, both 17, from Asbury Park, pleaded guilty before Judge Foster to several robberies and were sentenced to Rahway reformatory. William Bell, 20, confessed to four robberies and was released to probation. Other local cases saw Square DeRegatis fined for illegal liquor sale, Powell Banks held for trial, W. J. Wright remanded, and Orville White convicted for poultry theft. Reach's Bate Ball Goods ad promotes the line.

Grant Falls From 25-Foot Ladder At Ice Plant Site

U. S. Grant, engineer now leading an irregular life, fell from a 25 foot ladder to the boiler room floor at the ice plant on Second avenue. Found unconscious, he was rushed to Monmouth Memorial Hospital after initial suspicion of intoxication. Doctors reported a fractured ankle and a sprained knee, with alcohol likely involved.

Red Bank Property Sold on Harrison Avenue

The old Parker homestead on Harrison Avenue Red Bank has been sold by Anna Frazee to James McQueen of Hoboken for about 4000 dollars. McQueen takes possession immediately and will install electric lights and hot water heat. Trenton April 3 Gov Fielder signed Assemblyman Kirkpatrick s hatpin safety bill prohibiting unguarded hatpins in any public place It adds to the disorderly persons act and imposes a 5 to 20 dollar fine per offense with half to the complainant The law takes effect immediately

Sister Receives$60 Of Widow’s $40,900 Estate In Brooklyn

Theresa Foy, sister of Eliza Dunn of Brighton Avenue, inherits $60 from the estate of Eliza Dunn valued at about $40,763.38. The March 22 1911 will leaves to the sister and to two nephews and a niece $50 each, while two brothers get $2000 each and other friends receive $1000 and $200. Nine charitable societies receive the remainder. funeral expenses and debts total $2123.87. The estate consists of cash, bonds, stocks and mortgages.

Thieves Escape After Safe Opened with Nitroglycerine

Three suspicious men loitered near the town rail yard before a blast. Thieves used nitroglycerine to open a safe at the toolhouse, then fled the scene leaving behind crowbars. Authorities seek clues to identify the trio and recover stolen items.

Stolen Stamps Discarded After Port Monmouth Safe Job

A bold robbery at Walter H. Waiting's post office and general store in Port Monmouth used nitro to blast the outer door but failed to crack the inner vault. Stamps valued at 15 dollars were found discarded under the front stoop. Eyewitness William Dennis reported two men with flashlights before the alarm was raised. explosions were heard by nearby residents. The incident ends with church notices and a reminder of tonight’s Presbyterian service.

Lifelong farmer George Bowman dies after stroke illness

George W. Bowman a lifelong farmer died at his Parker Avenue home in West Long Branch New Jersey after his third stroke five weeks earlier. Funeral services were set for Saturday at two o clock at the Bowman homestead with Rev. C B Fisher officiating. He was aged 82 and survived by his wife Mary Bennett Bowman a son Samuel L Bowman a daughter Mrs Charles J Bridge a sister Mrs Elster Margaret Schenck nine grandchildren and other relatives. Burial will be in West Long Branch with John G Saxton funeral director.

Republicans Take Stand on Jury Reform Battle in New Jersey

In Trenton on April 3 Governor Fielder denounced the McDermott jury reform bill as rushed by Republicans and warned he would veto it if sent to him after a Senate passage. He called for a referendum to decide the issue. Senate Republicans said they will back the Read bill creating jury reform commissions while Democrats favor the Davis plan. A special legislative session is anticipated around May 1 to resolve the deadlock.
