State bank stock tax approved by Governor Fielder
Governor Fielder signed the bank stock tax bill after an 18 to 8 Senate vote. The law taxes bank, banking association and trust company shares at 0.75 percent with value based on capital, surplus and profits less property deductions, assessed in each district and payable May 20 each year. Proceeds go to localities and counties and the measure takes immediate effect.

Stabber Arrested While Playing At Dance
Jesse Frost, a Black man, stabbed Alfred Bowles Sunday morning at Red Bank. He was arrested last night by Constable William Chandler in Oceanic and will have a hearing tonight. Bowles may testify. Frost fled after the stabbing and was living in Fair Haven. Oceanic police aided Red Bank in the arrest, the second such cooperation recently. Kindergarten's Good Work by Mrs. Mary D. Fall from extension ladder injures Monmouth worker

Bainton Veteran Laid to Rest in Red Bank Area
