City kingpin nabbed in long beach narcotics raids
In a five year climactic series of raids Long Beach vice and federal narcotics officers arrested Edwin Stewart 32 and four associates for heroin and marijuana sales totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Stewart described as the area’s biggest peddler was taken at his California Avenue home after a surveillance operation. Additional arrests included Betty Jean Lewis James Webster Smith Marion Walker and Theac Williams with narcotics buys and seizures made by federal agents over two months. The raid team was led by Insp. G E Doyle with federal narcotics officials aiding the operation.

Pilotless boat traps man in water near Marine Stadium
