Farm Income Figures as Campaign Issue
Senator Kerr argues Republicans cannot win on a prosperity platform while farmers face a recession. He notes Secretary Benson sees a farm downturn and promises recommendations to Congress. Nixon defends agriculture as sound but acknowledges a squeeze and vows ongoing aid efforts. Kerr repeats that the Eisenhower Benson program cuts farm share of national income and increases marginal farmers.
