Three gunmen robbed Cole's Market at 1835 Santa Fe Ave at 9:30 a.m. fleeing with 12580 in cash after forcing manager Melvin Seel and workers into a stockroom. Police broadcast suspect descriptions within minutes but did not locate the robbers as officers searched the district.

Bandits Slug Man Steal $30,000 in Suits at LA Plant

Three gunmen slugged an employee after he turned off the burglar alarm at the Adrian Udell Co. factory at 1020 S. Wall St. They escaped with about 300 suits, the entire line, valued around 30000. The victim, Frankel Brenner, 51, was treated for head injuries at Georgia Street Receiving Hospital.

Mother saves infant life in Azusa infant. other child dies

In Azusa, a mother swerved to save her 18 month old Wayne from an oncoming car. Kerry Joyce Lucas, age 5, riding a bicycle beside them, was fatally struck. The 16-year-old driver Tileen Frances Perry stayed at the scene as police investigated. The Sheehan and Hartless children sustained minor injuries.

Overpass planned for City College access on Garson Street

Six Elderly Folk Perish in Kansas Blaze

In Kincaid, Kansas, a fire destroyed a nursing home killing six elderly residents and injuring one. One patient survived, three escaped, and Hollie Crocker was taken to Iola hospital in serious condition. Names and ages of the deceased include Mrs. Mary Reed and Elmer Johnson among others.

Three Escape Nevada Jail Slay Hostage

Three convicts escaped Nevada state prison with a guard hostage. The guard, Captain Miller, 59, was found dead in an abandoned truck after the escape as two inmates fled. Don Gulovsen and William Burnin were recaptured. Gene Shebig, wounded, remained at large. the escape followed a truck crash through the main gate amid gunfire.

Pair Kidnaps Attack Robs L A Woman

Los Angeles a woman was seized beaten and robbed after leaving a streetcar near Washington Blvd and Western Ave. The assailants dragged her into an old blue coupe, assaulted her in the car and dumped her near her home. She suffered a possible jaw fracture and multiple facial injuries. Her sister alerted police.
