Rev. Jack A. Kent urged residents to spare the site at Atherton Street and Bellflower Avenue where a new Unitarian church will rise on a two and a quarter acre plot. He noted two beefwood trees were cut and a one foot thick branch broken from a eucalyptus tree as crews plan building within weeks, with the landscape already plotted in the architectural drawings. The pastor stressed the trees, some 50 to 60 years old, should be preserved for the neighborhood’s beauty.
