Donald Hamisfar, 20, of near Norwalk, says a Parris Island corporal slugged him in the stomach for omitting a sit during a mop and bucket drill. He underwent a subsequent operation for rupture. The Navy probe began Aug. 27 after his mother reported details from Beaufort hospital.

Jury finds Merkouris insane in double murder case
