New Water Supply Aims At Central Coastal Basin
Los Angeles announced a new water project using Colorado River flow to replenish subterranean aquifers in the Central Coastal Basin. Water will travel from Puddingstone Dam through Walnut Creek to the San Gabriel River, past Whittier Narrows Dam, into spreading grounds and porous gravels. About 4 000 million cubic feet of water will be spread before terrains start. The Central Coastal Basin is bounded by Alameda Street, Whittier Narrows, the Orange County line, and Long Beach.
