Women in the WACs Begin Outdoor Training Encampment
Women in the Women's Army Corps, now numbering about 4000, start outdoor bivouac training at Camp Lee Virginia. From Monday dawn to Friday afternoon recruits pitch pup tents, learn night movement near mock enemy lines, and practice firing carbines on an 85 foot range. After graduation, most are assigned to other Army posts for advanced training.
