GOP Chief Denies Aiding Contract Deal

Republican National Chairman Leon W. Hall denies controlling government contracts and rejects any donation from the Frederick Snare Corp. He cites a TV interview on the Nicaro Cuba nickel plant expansion contract and notes half of the $43 million award went to Snare. A former Snare official testified Hall discussed the award and later increased contributions, which Hall says were not a condition of the award. Hall says no contract was controlled by him or the committee and claims ignorance of Snare contributions until reading it. He predicts a big Eisenhower victory post election.
