Hermann Field Freed in Poland after espionage charges dropped
Hermann Field, a U S citizen who vanished in Red Poland in 1949, was cleared of all charges and released from prison by Warsaw authorities. The Polish broadcast claimed the arrest was staged by an American agent and said Field would receive compensation. The report ties his disappearance to Noel Field, also missing since 1949, and notes separate notes from the State Department seeking release for Hermann and Noel Field while Poland pursues alleged conspirators.
