Seven Marines among seven killed in freeway crash

Sixteen people died in weekend crashes on fogbound roads. Seven Marines from Camp Pendleton perished when their speeding car crashed into an oil truck on Brea Canyon Highway near Fullerton. The toll for the year rose to twenty.

Westward Migration Continues Through 1950s Census

Highway Disaster Rips Through Southern California Traffic

Investigators describe a severe Southern California highway crash with wreckage and bodies along the road. A sedan windshield shatters as its debris hits an oncoming car. a Marine’s truck radiator is embedded in the wreck. The Long Beach driver recalled a sudden skid followed by a collision, with thunderous sounds and sparks. Investigators said it was a major crash with extensive damage.
