Conciliator Tries Phone Strike Peace
Federal conciliator Arthur Viat continued efforts to end the telephone strike in northern California and Nevada. He held a two and a half hour session Thursday with leaders of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company and the CIO Communications Workers of America. A company spokesperson said the situation remains the same after the talks. The CWA represents most of the 22,009 PT&T workers who walked out last week Monday seeking wage demands.
