Lost Motorboat Found Near Catalina Island Safe Aboard

The 30-foot Boatswain, adrift since Sunday with four adults and three children, was found 15 miles southeast of Catalina Island by the Navy tanker USS Kaskaskia. All aboard remained cold and weary but uninjured. The vessel had run out of fuel and refueled from the tanker before heading to San Pedro. Owners Mr and Mrs William W Baker of Santa Monica, their daughter, and Mr and Mrs Al Wetch of Riverside with two daughters were aboard. Coast Guard search was suspended. rough seas prompted initial concerns of a capsize.

Armed Pair Rob Blue Note Cafe For $1300 Loot

Two gunmen with shotguns under overcoats robbed the Blue Note Cafe at 8810 Long Beach Blvd early today. They bound five attendants, taped hands and feet, then fled in a car after looting the safe, cash register, watches, and money. Victims Edward Kasold and Delmar Burkham, ages 34 and 37, were restrained in a back room. Lt. Hayward Mitchell described the ruse used to open the safe.
