Soroptimist members heard Dr. Dorothy Hewitt discuss diets and religion on a global scale at the Wilton Hotel luncheon, stressing breakfast importance and noting diet facts. Berkeley regional conference plans and delegates were discussed.</s>
Beazer Circle began its year at the home of Mrs F J Wight with Mrs Wight and Mrs Walter Ray as luncheon hosts. President Minnie Powell led the business meeting and year books were distributed. Guest Mrs T J Woodruff attended as well. Mrs Mabel Howard spoke on fabrics and origins and Mrs F W McFarland shared highlights of her Alaska trip with photos.
The North Long Beach Women's Club invites visitors to an open house and friendship tea at Houghton Park Clubhouse tomorrow at 12 30 p m. Mrs Ralph Haynes and Mrs Kenneth McCafferty will pour during the social hour. Miss Lois De Leno will speak on Arts and Crafts. Mrs Grant Miller will sing, with Joan Sacksteder and Kathleen Hawkins performing a top routine.
A surprise party at 2841 Eucalyptus Ave honors Mrs. M. Dugan visiting from Chicago. US Chrysanthemums decorated the table and games provided afternoon amusement. Hidden guests included William Thomas, Jos Sigh Thomas, Owen Jones, William Lewis, Iran Kleeman, Wilfred Williams, G. Rowlands, William Smith, J. J. Richards, Lilian Stone, Charles McCoy, and Helen Mathewson.
Lakewood hosts a 1:30 p.m. tea in the Parish Hall with Mrs J B McCall of Cleveland presenting a review of Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton A line of hostesses includes Mrs William Vroom EM Lando and Mrs John Setmire Tickets for the tea and review are available through Mrs J K McCall at 4457 Greenbrier Rd
Vivian Yett reports on the Organization of the Teaching Profession third assembly held in Bern Switzerland with delegates from 22 countries and 24 from the United States. Framing remarks described international cooperation and educational ideals, noting the presence of UNESCO and the UN as observers. Travel from Long Beach included Alma Krauss and others, with post assembly tours ending in New York and Los Angeles.
