Hatch warns Communists may gain upper hand in Europe
Senator Hatch after a 17,000 mile European tour warned Congress must fund and expand the State Department information program. He cited Russia’s aggressive propaganda and urged approval of plans like the Marshall Plan to aid Europe. Hatch, with Senators Smith Barkley and Hickenlooper, said broadcasts must be expanded to counter Soviet messaging.
