A new modernized telephone directory for the Long Beach area and southern Los Angeles is being distributed. The large 1100 page volume includes classified ads and supersedes prior city listings. Forty one communities are included in the guide.
A new directory provides an alphabetical subscriber list for Artesia through Wilmington in the Los Angeles region. It carries only business and professional listings in the local community, with an added space for frequently called numbers and no ads on covers or white pages.
Los Angeles reports a crackdown on trespassers on fire roads and vandals who shot holes in water tanks and damaged barricades. Fire officials warned public use creates hazards that impede firefighting efforts. Los Angeles news reports J B Tommy Chastain an air plane test pilot ended his life October 1 and left a dated will two days earlier asking his widow Janet to create a race horse stable to fund their three children. The estate valued at 1750 dollars. the widow's attorney says the will is invalid and she does not plan to carry out the racing plans.
Mary A. Huston of 435 Lime Ave. reported a purse snatch last night as she walked into her home. A husky young man grabbed the purse containing a watch and $1.50 and fled on foot, with Flora B. Hendrex of 406 Linden Ave. present.
