Ferris Wheel Fall Kills Texas State Fair Student
At the Texas State Fair a pivot on a 90 foot Ferris wheel broke sending a seat with high school girl Cynthia Combest and two companions plunging to the ground. Cynthia died at Baylor Hospital. Kay Leslie and Barbara Allen were critically injured. Several others were lightly injured as the seat struck bystanders. Witnesses described a terrifying scene as the wheel’s top section dropped the seat to the midway below. Authorities investigated the accident as a tragic fair incident with the band members identified from Memphis and Winnona, Irving, Texas.

Freight Trains Crash Head-on Near Sulphur Springs
