Houston Police Nabbed in Thefts

Seven Houston police officers were arrested by fellow officers during an investigation into burglaries and thefts. Night Police Chief H. Buddy McGill said two of the seven face burglary and theft charges, a third a misdemeanor theft, a fourth has been suspended, and three others are allowed to resign. James W. Atkinson and Edin B. Moore were named among those linked to an air conditioner and a typewriter theft from Williamson Supply Co. on August 13.

Man in Memphis jailed on fake money charges

Roy Freeman of Portland Oregon, 53, is jailed in Memphis on federal counts of possessing equipment to manufacture counterfeit currency after he honked in traffic and drew police attention. Authorities confiscated printing presses and engraving gear valued at $5000 along with a pistol and forged notes. Freeman claims the activity was for practice and to improve as a photo engraver.
