Deuel Vocational Institute Opens Novel Adjustment Center
Tracy California reports the Deuel Vocational Institute has opened a new adjustment center for troubled offenders. The $12 million facility, replacing Lancaster, houses inmates aged 14 to 50 from the Department of Corrections and State Youth Authority. The center focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment, with a staff including a chief psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, two occupational therapists, and a teacher.
