Settlement Looms In Miners Vacation Pay Dispute
A labor clash between John L. Lewis and coal mine owners nears a settlement on a one year contract for nearly 20,000 soft coal miners. The deal would grant a 2.40 dollar daily wage bump and holiday benefits, with final terms still unsettled as meeting with major producers in Pittsburgh continues. The UMW and BCOA, representing northern and captive mines, expect to sign soon.
