Taft Says Stevenson Would Continue Threat to Nation
Sen. Robert A. Taft told a Columbus rally that Gov. Adlai Stevenson would permit the "continuation of the greatest threat" from communism in the State Department if elected president. He blasted Acheson and Truman, and urged Eisenhower to clean out the top State Department, naming Adlai Stevenson as a target. Taft touted three campaign issues: corruption in government, socialization, and mismanagement of foreign affairs and the Korean War. He spoke during a 19 state swing supporting Eisenhower and Nixon, urging GOP supporters to unite behind their ticket.
