Injection Program Faces Hurdle In City Revenue Plan
The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved an amendment to LBOD contracts allowing the water injection project but struck a provision that would enable either party to cancel after five years with mutual consent. LBOD attorney Jonah Jones warned the change could prevent the board from stopping an uneconomical program. The dispute centers on control and future viability of the plan. Separately, city crews planted large Ficus nitida trees along downtown streets, aiming to beautify a corridor between Pine Avenue and Pacific Avenue, with Bixby Lane and Bullins Co. contributing to the project and removal of some improvised structures.
