Washington UPA spokesman said changes to draft rules are coming "fairly soon" to defer most fathers from induction. The plan would order calls by eligibility down to ages 26, with categories for delinquents, volunteers, nonvolunteers with no children, men 26 and younger with children, and men over 26. Bricker urged a blanket deferment for fathers, while Major General Lewis B. Hershey noted the study may not solve the father problem yet.
