Red Probers to Move Hearings Westward
The House Committee on Un American Activities plans to move hearings westward in about a week to continue examining what it calls the Communist counter attack on anti Communist measures. After three days of hearings in Washington, future sites were not announced. Committee counsel Richard Arens said about 100 subpoenas have been issued for witnesses, though not all served. He said they will seek to learn Communist roles in attacks on the U S security program, with sessions focusing on immigration law provisions. Many witnesses declined to answer, invoking the Fifth Amendment.
