Parade Hails Veterans Day in Long Beach

A brisk breeze and sun highlighted Long Beach Veterans Day parade with about 10 000 spectators along a 12 block route. More than 200 units marched from Alaminos to Chestnut Avenue with Navy drums and bugle corps, Marine and Army displays, and San Diego and Los Angeles area units. Grand marshal was Roland N. Smad of the Mine Force Pacific Fleet. queen was Sara Constance of Torrance.

Rebels Ambush in Java Kills 13 Soldiers and Civilians

Two hundred rebels attacked an army truck near Bayonpdok village, 50 miles southeast of Bandoeno. Reports from Jakarta say 11 soldiers and two civilians died, with four more soldiers and three civilians wounded. The ambush occurred on Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall cleans smog and floods Long Beach area

More than an inch of rain drenched the Long Beach area, flooding Los Cerritos Channel and swamping the city dump on Pacific Coast Highway. The storm caused a fatal motorist death, affected Seal Beach for 42 minutes, and drenched parched lands with a reported one million dollars in benefits. Eisenhower Dedicates Abilene Memorial Museum

President Eisenhower today dedicated the $325000 Eisenhower Memorial Museum in Abilene Kansas for the future citizens of a great America. He spoke informally at Veterans Day ceremonies beside his wife and brothers and noted the museum houses World War II memorabilia and honors veterans. Crowd estimates ranged from seven thousand five hundred to ten thousand as he recalled boyhood days in Abilene and the gift of American citizenship.

Bandit Ring Gangsters Rounded Up

Long Beach and Santa Monica detectives cracked a large robbery ring led by four ex convicts in a two year investigation. Four men and one woman were arrested, tied to more than 200000 dollars from holdups in the county including Cole s Market and McCoy Market. Suspects Ray Wagner Charles Miller Dave Sher tan and others were shown in a showup at Inglewood police station. The gang is believed to have robbed a Santa Monica market and kidnapped a messenger in Gardena. Police expect about 50 victims to identify the quartet with other crimes. French Socialist Party backs Nerman pact in strong vote

Two Die Three Hurt in Radford Arsenal Explosion

A pre-dawn blast at the Radford Arsenal in Virginia killed two workers and injured three others. The explosion occurred during a powder blending operation and the building housing the blast was demolished. Two of the injured were described as not seriously hurt.
