Walter E. Elieson of the U S Department of Commerce told Long Beach Retail Furniture Association members that 1950 will be a strong year for home building as more houses are constructed than in 1948. He linked construction growth to broad business health, noting 2 percent higher national income for the first nine months of 1949 versus 1948, and cited California optimism with 125 new factories and expansion of 345 more. He said Los Angeles County houses 50 to 70 percent of the state's industry and urged obtaining the Commerce Department bulletin via mail.
