No GI abuse of unemployment pay, says Labor official
Labor Department official Robert Goodwin said a check of GI unemployment compensation shows 33 percent of Korean vets used less than 100 dollars, 15 percent used 600 to the maximum 676 dollars. About 24 percent of 3.5 million vets had used payments by Jan 1, with 11,000 multi state claims. He concludes the program is functioning, not milking, and vets are aided in finding work. AFL chief Meany arrives in Rome for two days of talks with Italy's anti communist unions.
