Collector Must Clean Up Jammed Six-room Nest
AN FRANCISCO May 25 Attorney Lloyd McComberty says he is a connoisseur. Health department inspectors reported a six room flat jammed with debris from glass and china to tires and old radio horns. The kitchen held unsanitary, uncooked and spoiled foods. Four dogs and six kittens roamed amid shredded newspapers. McComber compared it to Langley Collyer’s famous mess but said his collection is stored to keep it out of the way. Chief Inspector Kelterer gave five days to clean up, later noting that would be insufficient.

Marshall Calls for Trade Act Today But House Moves Ahead
Washington May 25 House Republicans set to push their own measure on extending the Trade Agreements Act amid Secretary of State Marshall plea to keep the act intact. Marshall warned the path to tariff cuts would be crippled if amendments are limited, while Democrats cried gag rule as debate time was restricted. The Administration seeks a three year extension, but the GOP plan would extend only one year with new Congress authority over trade pacts. Marshall defended the program begun in 1934 as a cornerstone of U.S. foreign economic policy.
