Illness Halts Tax-Fix Trial of Truman Aides

The tax-fix trial of three Truman Administration officials paused as defendant Schwimmer fell ill after testifying. Judge Hulen excused jurors and considered a court-appointed medical exam while Schwimmer was taken to a hospital following an anginal episode. Other accused are Connell y and Caudle in a case tied to tax evasion for Sachs.

Nike Missile Tests In New Mexico Demonstrate Effectiveness

Nike missiles scored on three of four targets during tests near White Sands Proving Ground New Mexico. Maj. Gen Upham and Army officers observed as a 12 foot long drone was knocked down at 16 000 feet altitude at 500 miles per hour. The test comes amid inter service controversy over the Nike program and featured public demonstrations viewed by more than 100 reporters.
