Arbitration Offer Rejected by Ford May 24 1942
DETROIT May 24 42 The Ford Motor Co day rejected terms of a union proposal for arbitration of key issues in the 20 day old Ford strike. The company asked the union for further meetings to work out a satisfactory arbitration plan. President Walter Reuther of the C S C United Auto Workers notified late last night that he rejected the proposal. The move aims toward a May strike solution involving allocation of manpower on disputed lines, with other issues to be settled by negotiation. A back to work movement would follow.
