West Los Angeles Woman to Press Wife Beating Claim

Marie The Body McDonald planned to sign a wife beating complaint against her wealthy husband Harry Karl at the West Los Angeles police station. She said Karl beat her for resisting his wish to remove her and their two adopted children from his Bel Air home. The couple’s troubled marriage has attracted headlines for over a year.

Local Taxes Rise Across California to 95 Per Capita

The State Board of Equalization reports the average local property tax per Californian jumped to 95 dollars, up 11.6 percent from last year as total levies near 1.233 billion dollars. Property tax bases rose to about 458 million, with cities and counties accounting for most of the increase. Alpine County posted the lowest combined rate at 2.24, while Alameda and Los Angeles counties showed higher levels, and Sacramento County reached 6.18.
