Berkeley police reported Stephanie Bryan age fourteen missing since April twenty eight was seen recently in Dartmouth Massachusetts with a man. Fall River Massachusetts police said two women who knew the Bryans when they lived in Fall River from 1946 to 1952 reported the sighting to authorities.
Atlantic City speech by Treasury official Robert B Blyth says the national debt is not fearsome but a potential fiscal friend when managed prudently. He notes debt per person and a nearly 277 billion total, stressing constructive uses like interest payments to savings banks and pension plans to promote thrift and security.
In Lewiston Maine twelve hundred of 16 000 striking New England cotton textile workers returned to work today at Continental Mills Lewiston after quitting April 15. CIO workers at two Pepperell plants in Biddeford and Lewiston and AFL workers at Longwood Dutchess mill in Waterville remain on strike. Continental workers voted to ratify an agreement with the CIO Textile Workers of America preserving current pay at $1.30 per hour while keeping doors open for broader contract revisions negotiated elsewhere.
