Financial Outlook of 55 Says Steady Gains Ahead
The Journal of Commerce reports an optimistic 1955 and 1956 outlook from an eight annual New York convention of financial analysts. Analysts favor rail, chemical, electrical, air, steel and utility securities, expect the wholesale price index near 110 with mild gains, fear union wage guarantees and stock market highs, but do not foresee a 1929 crash. They also note potential war risk over Formosa and forecast industrial production indices of 135.8 for year end 1955 and 138 for 1956.
