Hawaii Volcano Eruption Sends Lava 1000 Feet High
Kilauea on Hawaii Island erupts again pushing lava and large rocks as high as 1000 feet. A 2200 foot wide lava river flows toward the sea, threatening sugar cane fields while haze and ash obscure the 300 mile island chain. Deputy Civil Defense Director Peter Pakele says nearby lands remain safe for now.

Gov Johnson Answered by Two Savants in Denver
Colorado University scientists Dr Ray Lanier and Theodore Puck refuted Gov Ed Johnson’s charge of a “slight campaign” by American scientists to curb atomic bomb testing. They defended public discussion on radiation and denied implying tests should stop, criticizing Johnson for attacking their patriotism and integrity. In Melbourne, Australia, a highway crash killed five, including the three children of Mr and Mrs Matthew Thomas.
