U S Copter Vanishes Near Iron Curtain

An Army helicopter, closely identified to the Hight near the East German border, vanished around 2 p.m. Thursday. An initial search by Air Force and Army planes failed to locate the craft. The HS helicopter from the 5th Army was with the 5th Signal Battalion and had a pilot and passenger whose names were withheld.

Death Gives Benediction: San Pedro Cleric Dies in Chapel

The Rev. Mrs. Belie Alford, 73, a Pentecostal minister and associate pastor who helped found Emmanuel Chapel, collapsed and died during services at 2a Pacific Ave. Born in Malvern, Ark, she moved to San Pedro in 1953 and organized several Pentecostal churches. Bank Robbery by Four Masked Gunmen in River Forest

Four masked gunmen robbed a River Forest bank in under two minutes. They took 34,009 dollars, overlooked another 90,900, and fled before police arrived.
