Heavy Turnout to Decide Issue of Incorporation

Lakewood voters flocked to polls before noon as ballots were cast on incorporating all county territory north of Carson Street. Early counts from five polling places showed 10 to 14 percent turnout, numbering 147 of 909 at one site and 99 of 825 at another. officials called it the area's highest local election turnout in history.

Missing Boy Found Trapped in Chimney Near Home

Senate Republican leaders met to discuss steps to persuade committees to adopt fair investigative procedures. The plan follows a March row between Sen. McCarthy and Sec. Anderson Named Eyes Successor

President Eisenhower nominated Secretary of the Navy Robert B. Anderson to be Deputy Secretary of Defense, succeeding Roger M. Kyes. Anderson, a Texas rancher and lawyer businessman, was a Democrat for Eisenhower in 1952. No immediate announcement on his Navy post successor. Reports on Gov. Joan Lodge of Connecticut replacing Anderson had no information.

In Los Angeles a mother described how she saved her baby Randy from burns after a blanket toppled onto a heater in the crib. Alaska Woman Faces Slaying Charge in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD AP A 33 year old woman Diane Wells is accused of killing her husband Cecil Wells in Fairbanks Alaska. She allegedly died by suicide in a Hollywood Plaza Hotel room after a note and sleeping pill bottle were found. Detective Armstrong identified the body, noting Wells planned to stand trial April 4 on first degree murder charges.
