Santa Ana Swindler Eldred Convicted in Grand Theft Trial
Arthur Gordon Eldred faced jurors who heard how he exploited trusting locals in a complex trust deed scheme. Victims Lizzie Ritter Maggie Moore Everett and Catherine Hughes described losses totaling over 85000, with others facing similar fates as the case illustrated Eldred's persuasive, elusive method and the community’s shock. The verdict covered three counts of grand theft and highlighted the broader pattern affecting seniors and long-time savers.
